TV presenter Stacey Dooley spent two days filming in Warrington recently to put the spotlight on hardworking litter pickers in the local community.
Over 40 litter picking volunteers gathered, including residents from the Grasmere and Greenwood estate. Some were litter picking for their very first time, having been invited by Stacey on their doorsteps the day before.
The volunteers were joined by two very enthusiastic groups of primary school children. Ten children came from Saint Bridget’s Roman Catholic Primary School, and ten more had walked all the way to Peel Hall Park from St. Andrews Primary School.
The children tidied two play areas and were delighted to meet Stacey.
Meanwhile, the adult volunteers were divided into several teams to tidy the brook, the woods, the streets and the park.
Some large fly-tipped items, including shopping trolleys, bicycles, road cones, a door and several office chairs were retrieved from ponds and ditches.
Altogether 108 bags of Litter were gathered in a few hours, including two bags of crushed aluminium cans for recycling at Novelis in Latchford.
Stacey counted out the bags as they were loaded into a Warrington Borough Council truck, which was completely filled.
The volunteers are again very grateful to Warrington Borough Council for their co-operation, removing the Litter and fly-tipping the very same afternoon.

Tony Dixon of Warrington Litter Volunteers: “The BBC filmed Litterpick was a great first step. There was a tremendous community spirit and wonderful cooperation between everybody involved. The team leaders and volunteers did extremely well. The park looks so good now; it is a real asset to the area.
“This Litter pick was a big statement of intent, but it’s not over yet. Warrington Litter Volunteers will return to Peel Hall Park to further extend the tidying process”.
Wendy Rennison of Friends of Peel Hall Park and Tuesday Litter Team added:“Peel Hall Park is a real gem in the making. It includes large areas of woodland which are a significant wildlife sanctuary. As such, it will be unique in Warrington”.
“The new recruits performed very impressively. We hope they will join us again in the future”.

Stacey, who came to prominence in 2008 as a participant on the documentary series Blood, Sweat and T-shirts, was in Warrington filming one of 12 episodes of her new series about Litter picking up and down the UK.
One of the 12 episodes will be all about Warrington Litter Volunteers. It is expected that this series, known as “Stacey Cleans Up” will be aired on BBC TV in early 2027.
For this visit, Stacey and “Below the Radar TV” (TV production company) spent two days filming in and around Orford’s Greenwood and Grasmere estate and Peel Hall Park.
