THERE were impressive performances across the board in week two as Lymm Tennis Club’s men’s and women’s teams battled hard in league action.

There were some standout victories, gritty performances and plenty of team spirit on show.
The men’s first team delivered one of the results of the week with a commanding 11-1 win over Penketh, a crucial victory in what is shaping up to be a fiercely competitive Warrington League First Division campaign.
The men’s thirds were also in excellent form, securing a superb 9-3 win over Newton (2). Jonathan Griffiths and Tim Andrews continued their rich vein of form, claiming another three sets, while Stu Cripps and Nath Ormson dug deep in key moments, with Ben Hornung and Rich Simpson combining brilliantly to keep Lymm in control.
In the local derby, the fourths defeated the fifths 10.5-1.5, with junior duo Eddie McGuinessand Safi Mulki impressing on debut, while the sixths earned a deserved draw against a strong Widnes side, thanks to vital points from Al Wade and Mitch Bradley.
The women enjoyed a strong week too, led by a dominant 12-0 victory for the women’s firsts over Penketh.
While the scoreline was emphatic, the contest featured plenty of long rallies, deuces and high-quality tennis, rounded off perfectly with a well-earned post-match celebration.
The women’s fourths were equally impressive, brushing aside Stockton Heath 10-2 with confident performances across every court.
The sevenths also celebrated an excellent 8-4 win, while the thirds continue to show real fight in Division One, battling hard against strong opposition each week.
Elsewhere, despite defeats for the seconds, fifths, sixths and eighths, spirits remained high – helped, in true Lymm fashion, by excellent post-match cakes, cookies and camaraderie.
Wins, resilience and great club spirit – another fantastic week for team Lymm.
