Local trio to cycle LEJOG in seven days for Warrington Wolves Foundation

THREE local cyclists are gearing up for the challenge of a lifetime this summer, all in the name of supporting Warrington Wolves Foundation.

Darren Hibbert, Gav May, and Nick Taylor have announced they will tackle the legendary Land’s End to John O’Groats (LEJOG) route starting on June 27, 2026. The trio aims to complete the grueling 874-mile journey from the tip of Cornwall to the north of Scotland in just seven days—a feat that will require them to average nearly 125 miles per day.

The “Team LEJOG” challenge is a dedicated fundraiser for the Warrington Wolves Community Foundation. The charity is well-known across the borough for its work using sport to tackle social isolation, provide disability sport programming, and offer essential mental health support.
“We’ve seen the impact the Foundation has, and we want to help extend those opportunities,” said Darren. “It’s a demanding endurance ride with long days and tired legs, but we’ll keep pushing each other forward, driven by the impact we know we can make.”
Each member of the team brings a personal connection to the cause:
Darren Hibbert: A lifelong Rugby League fan whose journey began at Wilderspool in the late ’80s.
Gav May: An Ironman finisher who has supported the Warrington Wolves since 1995.
Nick Taylor: A cyclist looking to push out of his comfort zone for a goal that “gives him a reason to train.”
The team has set up a dedicated fundraising page and is calling on the Warrington community to help them reach their goal. “Every penny they receive genuinely makes a difference,” the team shared in a statement. “Your contribution won’t just help us reach John O’Groats—it will help the Foundation continue changing lives long after the ride is done.”
