Two lots of resurfacing works scheduled for Cromwell Avenue in May

TWO lots of road works are scheduled to start on Cromwell Avenue in the Hood Manor, Old Hall and Westbrook areas of Warrington during May.

The first set of works is scheduled to start at Hood Manor, for up to three weeks from May 11th, followed a week later, for up to six weeks from Old Hall to Westbrook.
The resurfacing works are scheduled from 7 pm to 1 am to minimise traffic disruption.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving & clearway as follows: Cromwell Avenue from the roundabout at Canons Road to the junction at Sankey Way; Waterways from the roundabout at Cromwell Avenue for 30 metres; Canons Road from the roundabout at Cromwell Avenue for 30 metres.
The Order will be effective from 11th May 2026 for 3 weeks, between 7 pm and 1 am, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative route will be via Westbrook Way, Whittle Avenue, Sankey Way and vice versa. The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing.

The Council has also made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which is to introduce a prohibition of driving & clearway as follows: Cromwell Avenue from its junction with Twenty Acre Road/Shackleton Close to its junction with Westbrook Way; Ladywood Road from its junction with Cromwell Avenue for 50 metres in an easterly direction; Westbrook Crescent from its junction with Cromwell Avenue for 100 metres in a westerly direction.
The Order will be effective from 18th May 2026 for 6 weeks, between 7 pm and 1 am, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative route will be via A57 Sankey Way, Whittle Avenue, Westbrook Way and vice versa. The closure is required for carriageway resurfacing.
