WOOLSTON House care home, Warrington has been rated “Good” by the Care Quality Commission following its first comprehensive inspection.

Part of leading complex care provider Exemplar Health Care, Woolston House supports adults living with complex needs, including mental health conditions, dementia and neuro-disabilities. The home provides nurse-led, person-centred care in a supportive environment that empowers people to live as independently as possible.

The CQC assessment marked the first inspection of this newly registered service, making the positive result even more significant. The report highlights how the team has created a caring, inclusive environment where people are supported to maintain their independence and shape their own day-to-day lives.
Inspectors found a strong emphasis on meaningful activity and personalised support, with people encouraged to pursue their interests and stay connected to their communities. One person told inspectors they were supported to do the things they enjoy, while relatives described the home as a place where their loved ones are “really listened to”.

The report also recognised how people living at Woolston House are actively involved in decisions about their care and the running of the home. Feedback from residents and families has led to changes and improvements, demonstrating a culture where people’s voices genuinely shape the service.
A person-centred approach was evident throughout, with care tailored around individual preferences, goals and routines. People were supported to build confidence, develop skills and maintain as much independence as possible, with staff taking time to understand what matters most to each individual.
The home’s positive and inclusive culture was highlighted as a key strength, with inspectors noting the strong relationships between colleagues and the people they support.

Home manager Kylie Radcliffe said: “We’re incredibly proud to have achieved a ‘Good’ rating across all five domains in our first inspection, reflecting the dedication of our team and our commitment to improving everyday life for the people we support.
“I’m especially proud of how the team has supported residents to enjoy holidays and create meaningful memories. We’ve worked hard to build a home where people feel heard and involved, and we’re excited to keep building on this success.”
The team and residents at Woolston House celebrated their achievement with a party, bringing together colleagues, residents and their families to mark the milestone and recognise the hard work and dedication that led to the positive result.
