Appeal for witnesses after e-scooter rider suffers serious injuries following collision at Glazebury

OFFICERS investigating a serious collision in the Glazebury area of Warrington when an e-scooter rider suffered possible life-changing injuries are appealing for information, witnesses and CCTV footage.

At around 1.10 pm on Thursday 22 May, officers in Warrington responded to reports from colleagues at Greater Manchester Police of a road traffic collision on Warrington Road, Glazebury.
Attending the scene, officers found that the collision occurred between an e-scooter rider and a Vauxhall Insignia.
The rider of the e-scooter, a 37-year-old man from Leigh, Greater Manchester, sustained serious injuries to his head and spine and was taken to Salford Royal Hospital for further treatment, where he remains at this time. His injuries are thought to be life-changing.
The driver of the Vauxhall, a 39-year-old man from Salford, sustained no injuries.
Officers subsequently closed Warrington Road and East Lancashire Road whilst colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service and Heli-med crews treated the rider.
As part of ongoing enquiries, officers are appealing for any witnesses who saw the incident occur, captured it on CCTV or dashcam footage or have any information that may aid officers in their investigation, to get in touch.
Sergeant Andy Brett, of the Roads and Crime Unit, said:“An investigation is currently underway to determine the full circumstances regarding what happened in the run up to this incident and, as part of our enquires, we are appealing to anyone who saw the incident occur or has any relevant information, to get in touch.
“We would also like to ask any motorists who may have captured the incident on dashcam footage to contact us.
