WARRINGTON South MP Sarah Hall has asked Prime Minister Keir Starmer to support her plans for a new Urgent Treatment Centre and Out-patients facility in Warrington during Prime Minister’s Questions.
Together with Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Trust, Ms Hall submitted a ready-to-go proposal for a new Urgent Treatment Centre and Out-patients facility in Warrington.
Ms Hall raised that Warrington was an outlier in the Cheshire and Merseyside region, with over 200,000 residents and no Urgent Treatment Centre.
In response, the Prime Minister confirmed that he would ensure that Ms Hall would have the opportunity to meet with the Health Secretary to discuss the proposals.
Ms Hall, said: “I was delighted to be selected to ask my first question at Prime Minister’s Questions this week and have the opportunity to highlight this important local issue on the national stage.
“During and since the election, constituents in Warrington South have told me our local ageing health infrastructure is not keeping up with demand.
“66% of our hospital predates 1984, 20% predates the formation of the NHS in 1948 and some even dates back to the Victorian era.
“Warrington is an outlier in the Cheshire and Merseyside region. On average there is one Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) for every 128,000 residents, in Warrington we have more than 200,000 residents with no UTC.
“These plans are credible, practical and ready-to-go schemes which would make a real difference for people across Warrington, reducing A&E waiting times and delivering 100,000 appointments every year.
“I look forward to discussing this further with the Health Secretary, and I hope to be able to secure his support for this transformational project.”
Today, I asked my first PMQ on an important issue for constituents here in Warrington South.
