HIGHWAY planners are set to introduce various temporary road restrictions to allow construction works for a new Bus Service Improvement Plan.
The works are set to start in phases from May 6th covering a period of up to five months and will also include various footway closures.
Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be as follows:
Prohibition of Movement: Prohibit the left turn movement for vehicles travelling westbound on Long Lane wishing to gain access to Winwick Road.
Prohibition of Driving: Long Lane between its junction with Fisher Avenue and its junction with Winwick Road; Ireland Street between its junction with Winwick Road and its junction with North Avenue; Corbet Avenue Passageway Rear of 20 to 30 for its entire length; Winwick Road (unclassified) between its junction with Winwick Road A49 and its junction with Silver Street.
Prohibition of Stopping: Entire lengths of road: Bluecoat Street; Collegiate Road; Hopwood Street; Jockey Street; Oliver Street; Part lengths of road: Ireland Street from Winwick Road to North Avenue; Kerfoot Street from Winwick Road to Folly Lane; Longford Street from Winwick Road to Hale Street; Long Lane from Winwick Road to Northway; Watkin Street from Longford Street to Melville Crescent; Winwick Road from Long Lane to Orford Lane.
Footway Closures: Entire lengths of footway: Alder Lane; Bluecoat Street; Corbet Avenue; Hopwood Street; Ireland Street; Jockey Street; Jubilee Way; Kerfoot Street; Longford Street; Oliver Street; Watkin Street; Winwick Road.
Temporary Suspension of The Borough of Warrington (Winwick Road) (Revocation and Bus and Cycle Lane) Order 2010 in so far as it relates to Article 6, Schedule 2 and the Bus Lane on Winwick Road (North bound Carriageway) – In a north bound direction between its junction with Winwick Road A49 to a point 59.5 metres south of its junction with Winwick Road, A49.
The Order will be effective from 6th May 2025. The restrictions will be carried out in phases as follows: Prohibition of Stopping: from 6th May 2025 for 34 weeks; Temporary Suspension of Bus Lane: from 9th May 2025 for 5 months; Prohibition of Driving (Winwick Road (unclassified)) from 9th May for 5 months; Footway Closures: from 21st June 2025 for 27 weeks; Prohibition of Driving (Corbet Avenue Passageway Rear of 20 to 30) from 21st June 2025 for 27 weeks; Prohibition of Movement from 16th July 2025 for 8 days, between 7pm and 6am; Prohibition of Driving (Long Lane) from 23rd July 2025 for 3 weeks; Prohibition of Driving (Ireland Street) from 6th August 2025 for 16 weeks. However, the restrictions will be in place as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative routes will be as follows: Prohibition of Driving (Long Lane) via Long Lane, School Road, Orford Green, Orford Road, Birchwood Way, Woolston Grange Avenue, Manchester Road, Lythgoes Lane, Winwick Road and vice versa; Prohibition of Driving (Ireland Street) will be signed on site; Footway Closures will be signed on site. The closure is required to allow for the construction works associated with the Bus Service Improvement Plan.
