THE next phase of road works in the Winwick Road area of Warrington is now underway to allow Scottish Power to install a 33KV cable.
Works have been ongoing in the area for several weeks, causing traffic delays.
Warrington Borough Council has made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for WINWICK ROAD & HAWLEYS LANE. The effect of which will be as follows:
Prohibition of Movement (Phase 1): Prohibit the right turn movement for vehicles travelling northbound on Winwick Road wishing to gain access to Long Lane.
Prohibition of Driving (Phase 2): Hawleys Lane from its junction with Winwick Road to its junction with Athlone Road.
Temporary Suspension of The Borough of Warrington (A50 Long Lane/Orford Green) (7.5 Tonne Weight Limit) Order 2007 in so far as it relates to:
A50 Long Lane (eastbound) from the A49 Winwick Road to the west side of its junction with Fisher Avenue; A50 Orford Green (westbound) from its junction with Hilden Place to the east side of its junction with the south-eastern end of Birtles Road.
The Order will be effective from 13th March 2025. The restrictions are to be carried out in phases as follows: Phase 1 from 13th March 2025 for 1 week; Phase 2 from 18th March 2025 for 2 weeks between 7pm and 6am. However, the restrictions will be in place as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative routes will be as follows: Phase 1 via Winwick Road; Phase 2 via Winwick Road, Kerfoot Street, Folly Lane, Longshaw Street and vice versa. The restrictions are required to allow Scottish Power to install a 33KV cable.

Prohibition of Movement (Phase 1): Prohibit the right turn movement for vehicles travelling southbound on Winwick Road wishing to gain access to Pinners Brow.
Prohibition of Driving (Phase 2): Pinners Brow from its junction with Winwick Road to its junction with Winwick Street.
The Order will be effective from 13th March 2025. The restrictions are to be carried out in phases as follows: Phase 1 from 13th March 2025 for 3 days, between 7pm and 6am; Phase 2 from 16th March 2025 for 8 days, between 7pm and 6am. However, the restrictions will be in place as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative routes will be as follows: Phase 1 via Lythgoes Lane, Midland Way, Froghall Lane, Tanners Lane, Winwick Street; Phase 2 via Lythgoes Lane, Midland Way, Froghall Lane, Tanners Lane, Winwick Street. The restrictions are required to allow Scottish Power to install a 33KV cable.
