A Warrington man has been quizzed by police after an 80-year-old man riding a motorbike on the M56 suffered serious injuries following a collision with a ladder, believed to have fallen off a van.
The incident occurred at around 3 pm yesterday, Wednesday, when police were called to reports of a crash on the eastbound carriageway of the M56 between junctions 16 and 15.
Police found there had been a collision involving a motorbike that had collided with a ladder which is believed to have fallen from a white Citroen Dispatch van.
The rider of the motorbike, an 80-year-old man from Eccleston, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Aintree Hospital, where he is receiving treatment.
A 28-year-old man from Warrington was stopped at the scene and spoken to by police.
A Chehsire Police spokesperson said: “No arrests have been made at this time, however enquiries remain ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the incident and officers are appealing for witnesses and video footage.”
