Restaurant steps up to support Warrington’s homeless

A heartwarming act of generosity took place in Warrington as Flavers Restaurant, prepared and delivered over 100 packs of freshly cooked hot food to homeless families living in temporary accommodation, and to residents of a nearby care home.

This initiative is part of a wider effort led by Cllr Mo Hussain, Deputy Mayor of Warrington, to encourage local restaurants to support the town’s homeless by providing free meals whenever possible. Many homeless families in Warrington are placed in temporary accommodations or hotels, where kitchen facilities are either non-existent or severely limited, making it difficult for them to prepare a proper, nutritious meal.

Flavers Restaurant, which was formerly known as The Cottage Restaurant—and historically referred to as Cromwell House on Church Street, is now under new management with a strong community-focused vision. Wanting to give back to the people of Warrington, the owners have pledged to provide regular meals on a monthly basis to support the town’s most vulnerable.
The restaurant, already gaining a reputation for its warm hospitality and high-quality food, hopes to inspire other local businesses to follow suit.

Cllr Mo Hussain personally thanked the management and staff at Flavers, saying: “This is an outstanding gesture from Flavers, and I sincerely hope more restaurants and businesses come forward to support those in need. Hot, freshly prepared meals can make a real difference in the lives of those who don’t have access to proper cooking facilities.”
Bobby, the manager at Flavers, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to help, saying: “My colleagues and I are always looking for ways to support the homeless and those in need in our community. When we learned about the challenges some families are facing, we knew we had to do something. We reached out to the Deputy Mayor, and we’re thankful for his support in helping us make this happen.”
The generosity was well received by the residents at the nearby Cromwell Court Care Home, with their manager stating: “The meals provided by Flavers were absolutely wonderful, and our residents were truly touched by this act of kindness. It’s heartwarming to see a local business step up in such a meaningful way.”
Temporary accommodation staff also shared their thoughts on the impact of the initiative, saying: “We’ve never seen the room so full—residents were chatting and engaging with each other, and it provided a real opportunity for people to connect. One gentleman had only just arrived at 4 pm and was immediately welcomed with a hot meal in comfortable surroundings. Families were sitting together, talking and enjoying their food—it was a wonderful example of how food can bring people together. Plates were cleared, showing just how much everyone enjoyed their meals. The staff who delivered the food were enthusiastic and truly passionate about giving back. Not only was the food beautifully presented, but it was also appreciated by all who received it.”
Cllr. Hussain concluded: “With businesses like Flavers stepping up, Warrington is proving that community spirit and generosity can bring real change to those who need it most.”
