Up to 10 weeks of road and footpath closures for surfacing works at Fairfield and Howley

UP to 10 weeks of road and footpath closures are scheduled in the Fairfield and Howley area of Warrington for surfacing works starting in March.

The works between 8:30 am to 5:30 pm are scheduled to start on March 3rd and will involve local diversions.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce the following:
Prohibition of Driving & Clearway: Entire lengths of road: Beresford Street; King George Crescent; Elaine Street; Fothergill Street; Part lengths of road: Fairclough Avenue rear of property No. 1 to 69; Ford Street from Fothergill Street to Willis Street; Sutton Street rear of property No. 2 to 58.
The Order will be effective from 3rd March 2025. The restrictions are for a period of 10 weeks, between 8:30am to 5:30pm, however, will be in place as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works.

The alternative routes will be as follows: Beresford Street via Manchester Road, Padgate Lane and vice versa; Ford Street via Fothergill Street, Willis Street and vice versa; King George Crescent via Clarence Street, King Edward Street, Cornwall Street and vice versa; Fothergill Street via Marsh Street, Marsh House Lane, Hume Street, Buckton Street and vice versa. The restrictions are required for road or footway surfacing.
