In Lymm, there were reports of a tree being brought down on at Eagle Brow.

The weather warning is in effect until midnight with gusts in excess of 60mph expected to cause chaos for motorists and pedestrians.

Meanwhile, Cheshire Fire and Rescue were called to an unsafe chimney in Kingsway South shortly after 9 am, which was badly impacted by the strong winds. A firefighter wearing a harness used a 13.5 metre ladder to safely remove the chimney stack.

In another incident this morning at 09:05 fire crews were called out to Aston Avenue near Birchwood where they temporarily secured metal signage after it had become loose in the high winds and posed a risk to the public. Crews advised that repair work will need to be carried out once the high winds subside.
The Met Office urged residents to secure outside structures to protect against the gusts – such as trampolines, sheds and outside furniture.
Motorists are urged to take care on roads and to adjust their speed as a result of the gusts caused by Storm Eowyn.
