HYDE United suffered Boxing Day blues as Warrington Rylands scored two and conceded none at The Hive Arena.
With places so tight in the league this win means Rylands climbed to 14th in the table and still have a game in hand.
Manager Neil Reynolds is beginning to put together a force to be reckoned with. “They’re still learning”, he says but “they’ve grown as a squad.”
As The Blues maintained control of the game their lead was doubled with four minutes of the half left to play. Jake Burton lost Joel Amado, who seemed attached to him with super glue, made a swerving run and then fired a dipping shot past a flying Hiddleston.
Warrington’s keeper Luke Pilling had very little to do in the second half, but when he was called upon to do so he didn’t disappoint, making a spectacular quick-reaction save.
“We’ve just got to keep our feet on the ground now,” said Reynolds after the match. “We must keep doing what we’re doing, work hard over the Christmas period because there’s games coming thick and fast in the New Year.”
“We’ve got to put this to one side now, have a rest and come back ready for Prescot Cables at Valerie Park on New Year’s Day.”
