DOUBLE yellow lines are set to be introduced on Statham Avenue, Lymm, to tackle parking problems outside a care home.
Overflow car parking from the Minerva Care Home on the site of the former Lymm Hotel on Whitbarrow Road is said to be causing visibility issues for vehicles entering and exiting the site and the nearby Trans Pennine Trail car park.
Warrington Borough Council has given notice it proposes to make an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 32, 35 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers. The effect of the Order will be as follows: –
1. The Borough of Warrington (Traffic Management) (Civil Enforcement) Consolidation (Amendment No. 4) (Part 1) Order 2019 is revoked in so far as it relates to Schedule 2, Article (g) and the addition to Schedule 3 – No waiting at any time – Statham Avenue (Both Sides) From its junction with Whitbarrow Road, for a distance of 10 metres, in a westerly direction.
The statement of reasons given by the council says: “As part of the former Lymm Hotel site redevelopment and replacement with a residential care home and apartment block, visitor vehicle overflow may result in vehicles parking on both sides of Statham Avenue and reducing visibility for vehicles entering and exiting not only the new development but also the Trans Pennine Trail car park.

There are some double yellows in both sides.Problem now the cars will use the Transpenine Trail car park..It’s not big enough for users of the trail so it will be worse still after the no parking lines are introduced..
Should go further to the start of bungalows. Parking on the bend especially in low sun is an issue.
During the planning process insufficient parking provision was highlighted as an issue, however WBC did not see the problem that everyone else foresaw.
Why wasn’t this anticipated when the planning application was submitted? Another example of the ineptness of WBC’s planning applications management.
