Local trust celebrates double win at Royal College of Psychiatrists Awards

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) is celebrating after winning two prestigious accolades at this year’s Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych) Awards, which recognise excellence in mental health care.

Mental health Intensive Support team were awarded the Psychiatric Team of the Year for Quality Improvement for supporting the Single Point of access function across rehabiliaiton services and the Psychiatric Team of the Year for Outstanding Commitment to Sustainability/Green Care.
The judges praised the Rehabilitation team for their innovative use of quality improvement methods and data to optimise services. Their focus on seamless transitions and strength-based assessments were recognised for significantly enhancing the pathway for patients.
For MhIST, the judges highlighted the team’s efforts to provide an effective, patient-centred alternative to inpatient care for people with complex mental health needs. By emphasising prevention and collaboration with the local Integrated Care Board, the team has created a sustainable and dynamic community rehabilitation service.

CWP Director of Medical workforce and Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Amrith Shetty, said: “I am immensely proud of the teams for winning not one, but two awards from the Royal College of Psychiatrists.This recognition highlights the importance of investing in people with complex needs through person-centred care to enhance their quality of life, whilst also demonstrating value for money. By using quality improvement methods and data, we can create preventative and sustainable services that better support people’s needs.”
