RESIDENTS living in Stockton Heath have reported a further incident of car keying – damaging the paintwork by scratching with a key.
Writing on the Living in Stockton Heath page, the resident explained that the vehicle had been targeted while parked on Ellesmere Road last week.
There have been multiple reports of similar incidents in the area dating back to Spring 2023 but not all have led to reports to police.
The affected area is the one way section of the road leading to London Road and near to St Thomas’s Church and church hall.
In a statement, Cheshire Police said it had not received recent reports of criminal damage in the area.
Speaking last year after a spate of incidents were reported, the force said: “We have received reports that a number of vehicles have been damaged while parked on Ellesmere Road, towards the junction of London Road.
“We will be conducting CCTV enquiries and increasing our patrols in the area.”
Victims of crime are urged to report incidents to Cheshire Police so they can investigate.
Incidents were reported in April and June 2023.
In late August this year, a motorist parked “for an hour on Ellesmere Road, next to the church and it has been keyed down the full length.”
They said they are “a young family working hard for a living and work in Stockton Heath contributing to the local economy.”
Commenting on a post about the car keyer in June 2023, one resident wrote: “We walked down there at weekend and counted about 15 cars with key scratches down the pavement sides. I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it first hand. Hope whoever it is gets caught.”

Don’t condone such actions, but keep off the pavements and use the car parks. Should be double yellows anyway since the cars parked prevent both left and right turns towards the junction to be used
