There are plenty of ways to enjoy a UK holiday, but there’s no denying the charm of staying in a caravan. A holiday park is the ideal base for exploring the nearby countryside, giving you plenty of chances to experience some of the UK’s most incredible sights and landscapes.
So, if you’re considering last minute caravan holidays, consider our list of four must-see sites that are the perfect place to spend some time relaxing and enjoying the great outdoors.
-
The Jurassic Coast
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its fossil-rich rocks and expansive geological history, the Jurassic Coast is a true must-visit destination for any UK holiday. Stretching from east Devon to Dorset, the 95 miles that make up this length of coastline are unlike any other.
Scattered with hidden coves, natural landmarks and pretty beaches, the Jurassic Coast is somewhere you could easily spend several holidays exploring without seeing everything. From the iconic limestone arch of Durdle Door to the sweeping Chesil Beach and the picturesque seaside village of Lyme Regis, there’s simply so much to experience here.
Fossil hunting on some of the beaches is a great way to spend a day, or if you’re looking for more adrenaline, head out onto the waves in a kayak or on a paddleboard to get an entirely different perspective on this impressive coastline.
-
The Lake District
In terms of rugged and expansive scenery, there’s few places that can hold a candle to the Lake District. Its smooth, clear lakes sit beneath craggy mountains and rolling hills, creating a landscape that’s truly breathtaking to behold no matter the time of year.
Not only is the region home to the highest peak in England – Scafell Pike – but it is also home to its deepest Lake – Wastwater. There’s no shortage of impressive vistas to see or exciting hikes to undertake, with trails that suit walkers of all ages and abilities.
Chances are that you’ll be able to enjoy some of those stunning views from your accommodation’s window, too. So, even if you’re worn out by a day spent outdoors, you can still soak in the wonders of the Lake District.

Snowdonia
-
For a similar vibe to the Lake District but with added beaches, head across the Welsh border to Snowdonia. Not only are there dramatic mountains and deep valleys, but the region has its fair share of beautiful beaches for visitors to enjoy.
Of course, tackling the climb to the top of Mount Snowdown – the highest peak in Wales and England – is an obvious activity to add to any holiday itinerary. Don’t worry if you’re not the most avid hiker, as the Snowdon Mountain Railway offers a chance to experience the mountain’s views without the strenuous climb.
And then there are all the opportunities to explore the coastline, from soaking in the sun on one of Snowdonia’s beaches to gliding across its waters on a paddleboard.
-
Northumberland
With views out over the North Sea, Northumberland is another excellent destination for a UK caravan holiday. Between its long stretches of sandy beach, historic castles and interesting fishing villages, the region is somewhere it’s easy to get away from the hectic pace of everyday life.
Take a walk across the sands at low tide to experience the ancient Holy Island of Lindisfarne, or spend a day exploring Bamburgh Castle, getting even better views out over the beach from its castle walls. There’s also the opportunity to go looking for marine wildlife, taking a boat trip out to the Farne Islands in search of seals and visiting seabirds.
