A LAUNDRY basket on a cooker triggered a fire alert at a property in Mardale Avene, Longford, Warrington.
Fire crews arrived at the scene to find the plastic basket had started to melt – causing a strong smell.
The crew removed the basket from the property and use a ventilation unit to clear away the fumes.
In another incident, vandals are believed to have started a fire in the open in Jubilee Way, Longford.
The blaze was at the base of a tree and firefighters used a hose reel jet.
A third incident involved a flat in St Elphin’s Close, Howley.
Two fire engines from Warrington and Birchwood went to the scene and crew members wearing breathing apparatus use a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots.
They were at the scene for two hours and 15 minutes.
