TOWN Hall chiefs have been granted the necessary planning permission to create additional bus lanes and improvements for walking and cycling along the A49 Winwick Road and A50 Long Lane, Warrington.
The development involves the following active travel and bus priority works along what is one of the busiest and congested roads in the borough:
• Creation of a bus lane on the A50/A49 adjacent to Warrington and Vale Royal College.
• Creation of a bus gate on A49 Winwick Road adjacent to Melville Close
• Creation of bus gate and bus lane on A49 Winwick Road southbound at the junction of A49 Winwick Road/Lythgoes Lane
• Active Travel enhancements to existing walking and cycling infrastructure between the college access on Long Lane and along A49 Winwick Road southbound to the junction of A49 and Lythgoes Lane.
The proposals have been given the go-ahead by Warrington Borough Council planning officers under delegated powers.

If these additional bus lanes etc are actually additional and not repurposing existing lanes then OK. If however they intend to reduce the existing roadway for vehicles it is nothing short of insanity.
Decent traffic flow should be a priority , too many sets of lights . It can take longer to get down Winick Road to the M62 than it does get to Manchester from Winick
