In memory of Brianna Ghey, Barratt and David Wilson Homes have supported national charity, Mindfulness in Schools Project (MiSP), with a contribution of £3,000 towards its mission.

Following her tragic passing, Brianna Ghey’s family and the Warrington Guardian set up the Peace in Mind campaign with the mission to teach and encourage mindfulness techniques in schools throughout the country.
This aims to help pupils to deal with negative emotions in a healthier way, potentially preventing mental health issues from developing later in life.
The campaign’s goal is to raise money to send as many teachers as possible on MiSP training courses, first beginning in Warrington before expanding. These courses train the teachers in mindfulness and helpful methods of supporting children of all ages.

The fundraiser has raised a total of nearly £88,000 so far, which exceeds the initial target of £50,000 by some distance thanks to the many generous donors.
Emily Slater, CEO of Mindfulness in Schools Project, said: “We are honoured that Brianna Ghey’s family and the Warrington Guardian have launched the Peace in Mind Campaign to raise funds for MiSP in her memory.
“This generous donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes will enable more children and young people to learn key skills to support their own wellbeing now and throughout adulthood – on their behalf, I say a huge and heartfelt thank you!”

Over the past 10 years, MiSP has become a phenomenal provider in schools throughout the country, delivering world-leading curricula for classroom-based mindfulness. Schools are given access to professional and proven training programmes to ensure all young people can see the utmost benefits of the charity’s work.
Rhys Nicholson, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Manchester, said: “The passing of Brianna Ghey is a tragedy that won’t be forgotten, both in Warrington and the UK, and so we are proud to have been able to offer our support to the Peace in Mind campaign.”
Claire Jarvis, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes North West, said: “It’s so important for our children to be able to express themselves in a safe environment and to feel supported. The service that Mindfulness in School Project offers is invaluable, and we encourage all who are able to offer their support in the fundraiser to do so.”
