An estimated 10,000 people visited Lymm village for the annual Historic Transport Day, which helps raise funds for local good causes.
Cars, Boats, Model Railways, Traction Engines, Lego, bicycles, motor-bikes, great food from round the world plus heaps of entertainments and activities for the whole family were on show, including the ‘oldest’ form of transport a Roman Quadriga!
Various organisations also had displays throughout the village and on the May Queen Field including Lymm Photographic Society” who had a brilliant display from local photographers showing the historic village.
Since 2013 Lymm Historic Transport Day has been one of the village’s major events and a crucial source of funding for many worthy local causes. Originally put together each year by Alan Williams and a dedicated group of volunteers, it is now led by local resident Jack Levy, who first encountered the event when he was house hunting in the village in 2018 and made him realise Lymm was “a place like no other.”
He stepped up to takeover fronting the event following the retirement of event creator Alan.
With an estimated 10,000 people flocking to the village for the Historic Transport Day, which included a flotilla of barges on the Bridgewater Canal, local good causes are set to benefit from funds raised.
