WARRINGTON Wolves fought from behind to beat Leigh Leopards 16-14.

Wolves trailed 14-6 early in the second half, but Matty Nicholson’s try with 10 minutes to go earned them victory at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

The win moves Sam Burgess’ side up to third in the Super League table, level on points with St Helens and Wigan.

They didn’t have it all their own way against the Challenge Cup holders, who have had a difficult start to the season.

Former Warrington Wolves winger Josh Charnley gave them the lead inside the first two minutes.

Lachlan Fitzgibbon’s first try in Warrington Wolves colours, getting on the end of a kick, and Josh Thewlis’ conversion put the hosts 6-4 up.

But Leigh led after the break after Ben McNamara touched down, getting on the end of Zak Hardaker’s kick.

They stretched their lead further eight minutes into the second half when Mike Moylan and Charnley linked up to set up Ricky Leutele.

Warrington needed two scores and they got the first with 15 minutes to go, when Matt Dufty backed up a break by Fitzgibbon, with Thewlis’ conversion reducing arrears to two.

Dufty then created space for Thewlis to break and find Nicholson on 71 minutes for the decisive try.
