Fire crews rescue person from River Mersey

FIRE crews were involved in a rescue operation after a person entered the River Mersey off Kingsway North, last night, Friday.

At 21:17 three fire engines from Stockton Heath, Powey Lane and Penketh, plus the water rescue boat from Warrington and technical rescue unit and aerial ladder platform from Lymm, attended reports of a person in the River Mersey.

Crews specially trained in rescues from fast flowing water rescued a member of the public who had entered the River Mersey. The individual was passed to the care of ambulance personnel.
