UPDATED: A dangerous knife was seized and a male was arrested as police were called out to reports of an ongoing street fight in, Latchford, Warrington.

Two officers from Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team were requested to assist colleagues at Warrington Police with an emergency call for an ongoing fight involving several people.

Arriving first on scene the officers who are both specially trained taser officers located two persons still in the vicinity. After a brief discussion, it was established that one may have been in possession of a knife. He was quickly detained and arrested for possession of a bladed article in a public place.

It followed a disturbance at an address on Bridgewater Avenue, Latchford, Warrington. Jordan Risley, aged 21 of Bridgewater Avenue, has been charged with possession of a knife.
Risley has been bailed to next appear at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Monday 20 May.

A police spokesperson said: “This is a nasty knife and if used could take somebody’s life. It is well known that knives, when in the wrong hands are a dangerous weapon if used. In a split second one life will be changed forever and the second life taken. Carrying a knife to commit a crime is clearly not acceptable. Carrying a knife to ‘defend’ yourself is not only unacceptable it is also very stupid. It is proven that if you carry something, in a split second of ‘fight or flight’ you are more likely to use it and the consequences are devastating.
“Knives have no place on our streets. If you carry a knife…. think of the consequences of using it.”
Police are advising anyone in possession of dangerous knives to make use of knife amnesty bins around the community.
