Grappenhall have received a major boost ahead of season

GRAPPENHALL have received a major boost ahead of the approaching cricket season.

All-rounder Tom MacRury, the New Zealander who played such an important part if the club’s survival in the Cheshire County League ECB Premier division last year, is returning for a second season.
MacRury turned in one of the outstanding all-round performances in premier league cricket across the whole country last summer – hitting 568 runs and taking 52 wickets.
In the last match of the season – when Grappers beat champions Alderley Edge – he hit a blistering 76 off 79 balls.
In fact, Grappers didn’t just beat the champions – they slaughtered them!

Their task now will be to stay in the Premier division for in recent years they have been something of a yo-yo side – winning promotion one year and being relegated again the next.
There is plenty of reason to be optimistic.
In addition to MacRury, Grappers have, as usual, plenty of home-grown talent and Cheshire Under-17 wicketkeeper-batsman Teix Bolingbroke has joined from Oulton Park to vie for a first team place.
Off the field, there have been improvements carried out to the pavilion toilets and showers and a full, three-lane practice net is to be installed following last year’s fund-raising efforts.
