Four fire crews help rescue person from River Mersey

FOUR fire crews were involved in an operation to rescue a person from the River Mersey near Bridgefoot last night, Saturday.

At 19:20 Fire engines from Warrington, Penketh, Lymm and Widnes, plus a boat unit and a technical rescue unit attended the scene on Warrington Bridge.

Firefighters were called to attend an incident whereby an individual had entered the River Mersey near to Bridgefoot in Warrington.

Crews used a short extension ladder to enable the individual to remove themselves from the river bank and into the care of awaiting paramedics.
