POLICE have confirmed the arrest of a motorist who claimed he couldn’t stop his electric vehicle on the M62 at Warrington following a brakes failure.
Merseyside Police say that following an investigation, a 31-year-old man has been arrested in relation to an incident on the M62 on Wednesday 6 March when officers from the force Roads Policing Unit were called to help stop a vehicle safely.
A police spokesperson said: “An investigation, supported by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), is underway and a 31-year-old man from Bolton has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and causing a public nuisance.
“He has been taken into police custody to be questioned.”
Two lanes of the M62 at Birchwood had to be closed by motorway police as special tactics were deployed to stop an electric car which the driver said couldn’t stop due to an electrical fault.
Police closed lane 3 and 4 on the M62 eastbound J11 to 12 near Birchwood.
