THREE fire crews were called out to deal with a fire involving a car well alight on the hard shoulder of the M56 near the Lymm Interchange.
At 18:23 yesterday, Saturday, crews from Lymm, Birchwood and Greater Manchester attended reports of a car on fire on the M56 eastbound between junctions 9 and 8.
Firefighters using breathing apparatus extinguished a car well alight on the hard shoulder of the motorway.
They closed the first lane of the carriageway while dealing with the incident. All persons were accounted for.
The fire is believed to have been due to an electrical fault.

There isn’t a junction 8 east bound only 6 and 7
Junction 9 Is on the westbound .
The competence of reporting facts has alot to be desired
We can only report the facts as presented by those in authority – and I’m afraid my head is full of more important stuff than knowing every junction number of the motorway network – Happy Christmas – are you related to the Grinch by any chance? https://www.cheshirefire.gov.uk/news-events/incidents/?i=15751
You don’t realise the importance of accurate information when you are attending an incident like this !
Accurate information ensures a proper and immediate response to save lives and further knock on effects of the incident
How on earth do you deduct that from our report post-event with info provided directly by those who attended the scene?
Because I use the M56 eastbound and westbound everyday to travel to work !
… and how does that help rescue people and save lives form a past report provided by the Fire & rescue Service?
