Police seek witnesses after M6 Northbound closed following serious multi-vehicle collision

POLICE are seeking witnesses after the M6 Northbound Thelwall Viaduct was closed this morning following a serious road traffic collision involving two HGVs and two cars, leaving one casualty with serious chest injuries.

Emergency services including the air ambulance attended at the scene following the multi-vehicle collision at 7:48am this morning.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At 7.48am on Monday 11 December police were called to reports of a multi-vehicle collision on the M6 northbound, at Thelwall Viaduct.
“Officers attended the scene and found the collision involved two HGVs, a white Ford Zetec and a white Ford Kuga.
“Fire and ambulance were called to the scene and the road was closed in both directions to allow air ambulance to land.
“One person has sustained a serious chest injury as a result of the collision, they have been taken to hospital via air ambulance. A number of other casualties have been taken to hospital by paramedics.
“The southbound carriageway reopened at around 9.10am, but the northbound carriageway remains closed at this time.
