WARRINGTON Men’s hockey team got back to winning ways with a commanding 4-0 home victory against Bury.

After a few weeks off due to poor weather Warrington started slowly allowing the visitors to get a
foothold in the game with their direct style of play asking questions of the Warrington defence.
Warrington clicked into gear midway through the first half, a slick passing move from one end of the
pitch to another saw Harvey Mason feed Sam Pinion who drove into the Bury dee before finding the
bottom corner with aplomb. The lead was soon doubled as Warrington laid siege to the Bury goal,
Nick Bottomley unleashed a firm strike which found Andrew Gould unmarked at the far post who
tapped in a composed finish. The half ended in disappointment for winger Richard Bee whose game
was cut short due to a head injury sustained by a stray Bury stick.
As the weather worsened in the second half, Warrington continued to press on. Mason deservedly
grabbed the host’s third capping a great display with an accurate strike past the helpless Bury
goalkeeper. The final goal came shortly after, a cross from Pinion found Alan Livingstone in the dee
who slipped the ball across to Gould for a simple tap in and his second goal of the game.

Warrington Men’s 2nd team grabbed a 2-2 draw away against Wilmslow but left feeling they deserved more.
Warrington started the game well, winning short corners and forcing the Wilmslow keeper into a
handful of saves. However, it was Wilmslow who took the lead on the counter with their first attack
of the game. Goalkeeper Nick Parry made a good save but was unfortunate enough to see the ball
fall to the Wilmslow striker who happily tapped home. Undeterred Warrington pushed on and found
an equaliser five minutes later. A short corner routine straight from the training ground saw Chris
Ashworth drill the ball across goal and Rob Powell deflecting the ball past the goalkeeper.
Warrington’s hard work was sadly undone just before halftime. A misplaced pass out of defence
presented the hosts with a chance they couldn’t miss and they retook the lead.
Warrington again showed great character as the game wore on and found an equaliser midway
through the second half from another short corner. Rob Powell saw his shot saved but Noal Phillpotts sensed the opportunity and was able to tuck the rebound past the despairing Wilmslow goalkeeper.
Warrington Women’s 1st team suffered a 6-1 defeat at home against league leaders Triton.
Warrington, missing some key players battled hard against an impressive side destined for promotion and left the pitch with their heads held high. Helen Fairhurst scored Warrington’s goal with a well struck effort. Warrington’s Development Side were edged out by local rivals Lymm in a 1-0 defeat
