Planners agree to extension at Chapelford Village Primary School

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have agreed to the retention of a modular building and new macadam surfacing at Chapelford Village Primary School, Great Sankey.

The development allows for the continuation of adjacent play areas and also additional parking.
Work had already started on the project when members of the borough council’s development management committee considered the scheme.
There were no objections from nearby residents, although some questioned why work had started ahead of the granting of planning consent.
The committee heard the development would allow for the improvement of the school’s facilities and would allow for an increase in the number of pupils.

Warrington Borough Council planning officers said there would be no impact on the living conditions of nearby residents and no unacceptable visual impact.
There would also be no impact on the local highway network.
The existing school had about 601 pupils and the extension would increase the maximum capacity to 750. There would be an increase in staff of eight, bringing the total full-time equivalent to about 62.
