STUDENTS and staff at Culcheth High School celebrated European Day of Languages – in the kitchen.

The Day is a celebration of the rich tapestry of languages which make Europe special.
Linguistic diversity is a tool for achieving greater intercultural understanding and, at Culcheth students and staff were proud to encompass this by showing off their baking skills in a European Bake-Off.
The event was a great success with many entries from Year 7 and 8 students, representing a range of countries including France, Spain, Greece and Italy.

The entries were of a high standard which made deciding the winners a difficult task for the judges headteacher Mr Christopher Hunt, and interim head of Spanish Miss Zarah Keenan.
Joint winners were Sofia Haaland Alonso, with a London-inspired cake, and Carlota Haaland Alonso with a Parisian themed cake. Second were Jacob Walker and Jasper Parker-Kerner for their meatballs and spaghetti cupcakes and third was Indie Kirk, with her gondola cake.
