AFTER advising residents disruptions to refuse collections would be “minimal” due to a national bin strike, Warrington Borough Council today announced there would be no collections today, Tuesday.
A question mark also remains over future collections with the industrial action by the Unite Union scheduled to last until October 16.
Warrington Borough Council took to social media to issue the following statement: “Due to industrial action linked to the national pay award taken by Unite the Union, we have been unable to deploy any refuse collection vehicles today, Tuesday 3 October 2023. We regret the inconvenience caused by the industrial action for our residents and businesses.
The dispute is related to negotiations which are held nationally and is not about local conditions of service in Warrington.
The industrial action is intended to continue until 16 October. We would ask residents to store their waste until their next scheduled collection date, when additional waste generated as a result of the strike will be collected.
The garden waste scheme will be extended to provide residents with the contracted number of collections they have subscribed to.
Residents can also dispose of their residual and recycled waste via the three community recycling centres at Gatewarth, Woolston and Stockton Heath.
Here’s the minimal impact they referred to ….. 🤷♀️
