UPDATED: WARRINGTON Wolves have failed in their appeal against popular Aussie forward Paul Vaughan’s four-match ban.
He was found guilty of a Grade E unnecessary contact offence and handed a four-match ban by the Rugby League’s disciplinary panel and will now miss the rest of the season – and depending on Warrington’s progress if they make the play-offs, the start of next season.
Vaughan, aged 32, was charged with the Grade E unnecessary contact by the match review disciplinary panel following the side’s 18-6 defeat to St Helens in Round 26.
Having pleaded not guilty, Vaughan will now miss the rest of the season, including the Grand Final if Warrington are able to claim a spot in the top six and are successful in the play-offs.
Warrington responded to the ban at the time saying they were “extremely disappointed” with the outcome ahead of their final game of the regular season away at Huddersfield this Friday.
The Wolves are competing with Salford Red Devils for sixth spot with both sides on 26 points on the table, although Warrington has a much better points difference.
