Warrington Wolves romp to victory over Castleford Tigers

DESPITE going behind to an early Castleford Tigers try, Warrington Wolves responded in style as they romped to victory 66-12 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

The hungry Wolves ran in eleven tries while Stefan Ratchford weighed in with eleven goals to strengthen hopes of a top-six finish after back-to-back wins.

But it was the visitors who struck first on four minutes with a try for Sam Hall converted by former Wire Gareth Widdop.
Warrington hit back on 15 minutes when Paul Vaughan powered over as Ratchford’s conversion racked up his 1,500th point for the club!
Then on 22 minutes Matt Dufty darted through a gap in the Tiger’s defence which proved not to be very watertight as the game progressed. Ratchford again on target to make it 12-6.
Two minutes later the Wolves were over again, this time Ben Currie scoring and Ratchford converting, with surprisingly no further scores with Warrington going in 18-6 at the break.
It was the visitors who were again first out of the blocks after the break with a try from Greg Eden converted to make it 18-12 and little sign of what was to come.
On 52 minutes Cas were down to 12-men as Jacob Miller was sent for 10 minutes after a dangerous tackle on Pete Mata’utia and the Wolves took full advantage of the extra man.

Within two minutes Dufty had side-stepped over for his second try and Ratchford’s conversion made it 24-12. Two minutes later a superb offload from Sam Kasiano was finished off brilliantly by Daryl Clark and the conversion made it 30-12 and the Wolves pulling out of sight.
Warrington added further tries from Matty Nicholson and Matty Ashton while the Tigers were still down to 12 men, as they put the game to bed at 42-12 living the visitors completely demoralised.
It was now one-way traffic as George Williams raced over on 67 minutes, followed by James Harrison on 71, Paul Vaughan with his second on 77 and George Williams with his second in the 79th minute, all converted by the 100pc Ratchford to complete a fine afternoon at the office 66-12.
