VIDEO: AS thousands of people flocked to another hugely successful Disability Awareness Day, a special raffle was launched giving the lucky winner the chance of pressing the button to demolish four towers at Fiddler’s Ferry Power Station, scheduled later this year!
Landowners Peel has teamed up with Warrington Disability Partnership to provide one lucky person with the unique opportunity of pressing the button to press the big red button, scheduled for November. All proceeds will go to Warrington Disability Partnership, which celebrated the 32nd DAD event at Walton Hall and Gardens.
It is sure to prove to be a hugely successful fundraiser for the charity set up by founder Dave Thompson after he broke his neck playing American Football.
Dave said: “A huge thank you to Peel for providing us with this fund-raising opportunity which will provide the lucky winner with a truly memorable and unique experience.”
He also thanked the many sponsors and volunteers who made the event possible.
“Without all their support it simply wouldn’t happen.”
The DAD 2023 event attracted huge crowds to Walton Hall & Gardens at the event supported by headline sponsors United Utilities and Expanse Learning and numerous other local organisations and businesses.
Various entertainments were provided by the likes of the Rock Choir and Warrington Male Voice Choir, following on from a week of activities in the park – showcasing a “Can do attitude” for those living with disabilities.
Dozens of organisations showcased their offerings in a tented village in the park.
