“Right Royal knees-up” for coronation of King Charles III

A SERIES of special events and activities will take place across Warrington this weekend to mark the coronation of King Charles III.

They will start at Time Square tomorrow, Saturday, with a right royal knees up including a street party and live coverage of history in the making on an outdoor screen.
Warrington Market and Time Square vendors will provide a range of food and drink offers throughout the day.

Live coverage will begin on screen from 9am, with DJ sets and live music taking place until 7pm. Parties will then follow, with music and entertainment at Warrington Market, Costello’s Bar and The Botanist.
The first 100 people to take a seat on the terrace inside the square will receive a free goodie bag, but seating is limited so please arrive early to avoid disappointment. For more information, visit King’s Coronation at Time Square event page.
The Cheshire Food Festival returns to Walton Hall and Gardens and has been extended for this special bank holiday celebration. Taking place across three days, from Saturday to Monday, 10am to 5pm, it will showcase more than 40 artisan producers, lots of tasty hot food and drinks to enjoy, plus live music and market stalls.

Mayor of Warrington Cllr Jean Flaherty said: “It’s fantastic to hear of all of the exciting events planned across Warrington for this special bank holiday weekend. There is something for everyone to join in with to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III on this historic occasion. I am thrilled to be attending an event at Chester Cathedral on Sunday and to bedropping in on various street parties in the afternoon.
“His Majesty has served our nation and the Commonwealth with diligence and foresight since his investiture as Prince of Wales in 1969 and will be crowned as our King this Saturday. So, we should all join our friends, family and neighbours for celebrations, community events and street parties to mark the occasion.
“Times have been challenging in recent years and continue to be hard for many, so now is a time for us to come together in our communities to celebrate.” There are also lots of events taking place in community centres across the borough, including afternoon teas, coronation brunches and family fun days.

“If you’re planning to support the Big Help Out campaign, you would do well to find a worthier initiative than the Royal litter pick! This idea and project really does show off the best of Warrington’s communities. There is something for everyone to enjoy this weekend and it will be fantastic to see communities come together to take part in national celebrations.”
As the celebrations come to a close, residents are invited to take part in the “Big Help Out” and volunteer to support Warrington’s Royal litter pick. Volunteer litter pickers are needed to support a community initiative fit for a king, as Warrington’s litter network is planning a huge day of action as part of His Majesty the King’s Coronation.
