Fairer, greener future for Warrington South is possible says parliamentary candidate

A fairer, greener future for Warrington South is possible under Labour, says parliamentary candidate Sarah Hall.

Earlier this week, Sarah, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Warrington South, attended Labour’s annual party conference in Liverpool.

There were speeches by some of North West’s most recognised politicians including Angela Rayner, Andy Burnham, Steve Rotherham and Lisa Nandy as well as the Labour Leader Keir Starmer.
Attendees described the mood of the conference as feeling like “1996” the year before Labour’s landslide victory in the 1997 General Election.

This year in Liverpool, Labour announced a raft of new policies including; Labour’s Green Prosperity Plan that they believe will make Britain a green growth superpower. Labour says the plan will create one million new jobs in towns and cities in every corner of the country and allow Britain to lead the world in renewable energy, electric vehicles and hydrogen power including a promise of 100% clean power by 2030.

Labour says that it’s fully funded and costed plan for growth stands in stark contrast to the shambolic budget that we saw last week. Labour are the party of sound money. The Tories are the party of fiscal irresponsibility.

Sarah said: “The Tories can’t be trusted with the economy, leaving the pound to plummet, giving tax breaks to their wealthy friends, protecting the profits of billionaire energy giants and now the threat of cuts to public services. Last week’s ‘mini budget’ made it clear what the Tories priorities are. They support the richest while everyone else is left counting the pennies.
“Working people continue to live in fear. Fear of losing their homes due to spiralling interest rates, food costs going through the roof and people huddled together in their coats and scarfs because they just can’t afford to turn the heating on.
“It’s shameful that foodbanks are needed. No person should have to live in poverty, especially when there are oil and gas giants making billions in profit.
“The huge divide between the richest and the rest of us is only getting bigger.
“Labour has proven we are a government in waiting and has committed itself to a radical yet responsible set of policies to fix our broken public services and offer Britain the fairer, greener future we all deserve,” she added.

  1. 12 years of Conservatives and do you feel better off? No! There is a lot wrong with UK but under a Labour Government would we have left EU and damaged trade deficits, put peace in NI in jeopardy, have injured our alliance with USA? Now is the time to tell the Tories enough is enough.
