A chance to see- and “hear” – bats in the wild

A CHANCE see – and “hear” – bats in the wild comes on Saturday, September 3 at Ackers Pit, Stockton Heath.

Organised by Stockton Heath Parish Council, the “Bat Walk” will be led by Tony Parker, assistant curate (Vertebrate Zoology) at World Museum, Liverpool and a member of Warrington Nature Conservation Forum.
The assembly point will be at the weir off Ackers Lane from 7.30pm.
A number of bat detectors will be available to borrow, which will help people to “hear” the bats as they send out their ultra-sonic signals which help them to detect their prey.

Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult and dogs must be kept on a lead and people should take a torch. Bats are not guaranteed – but lots of information about the habits and habitats of bats will be available which might help people to bat-watch on their own in the future.
Places are limited to those intending to attend should book through Eventbrite at http://www.eventbrite.com/bat-walk-tickets-399446835237
