VANDALS are being blamed for a series of arson incidents at Warrington.
An abandoned mattress was deliberately set alight in Longshaw Street, Bewsey and firefighters from Penketh used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames and dampen down the surrounding area.
A fire was started in woodland off Cromwell Avenue and arson was again suspected. A fire crew from Warrington used a water backpack to put it out.
Arsonists struck again in the open off Wimborne Close. Crew members used a water backpack to tackle the outbreak.
Police were informed of all three incidents although they were not thought to be connected.
