The First And Lasts Of The Tournament And Host Preparations

There are a lot of decisions that make this tournament the first of its kind. Qatar has become the first Arab and second Asian country to host FIFA World Cup and has been preparing for the tournament since 2019. The preparation procedure did experience some difficulties during the COVID pandemic situation. But organizers were able to fill in the gap in preparations by working hard day and night.

Due to the harsh summers of Qatar changes in the dates of World Cup matches were made, and the tournament that would have occurred from May to July 2022 will now take place during the winter season. The gala will be the first to begin in late November and end around mid-December. Since the 1978 edition, this tournament will be the shortest of all as it is only 28 days long.

Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022 will be the first tournament in the Middle East. The host country has invested a lot in its preparation and construction of new stadiums to make it a success.

The mega event will also be the first most compact World Cup as all eight stadiums are within a radius of 55 kilometers from Doha, making it convenient for fans. All venues have the latest cooling systems, protecting fans from summer desert heat.

For the first time women referees and assistant referees will perform official duties at the FIFA World Cup 2022 men’s tournament. The gala will also be the last of its kind featuring 32 teams as the number will rise to 48 teams for the World Cup 2026.

In twenty-eight days, total 64-matches will be played in eight venues located in five cities, each city located at a distance of 46 miles from each other. 800,000 World Cup 2022 tickets are likely to be sold, and FIFA will initiate selling the tickets.
