New security gates for historic Lymm Hall

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for new entrance gates at historic Lymm Hall.

The new metal gates will replace a timber gate at the main entrance to the hall, off Rectory Lane, Lymm.

Proposals for the new gates were submitted to Warrington Borough Council planners last year following reports of unauthorised people being found in the grounds

The new gates will be electronically operated by the residents of the hall and will be designed in a traditional style, reflecting the historic importance of the hall and other buildings within the grounds.

Lymm Hall, a Grade 2* Listed building, is now divided into two dwellings and there are three other dwellings within adjoining buildings. Parts of the hall date from the 15th century but it has been remodelled on a number of occasions over the years.

The grounds also contain a number of other historic items, including a dried moat, an Ice House and a pair of cockpits.
