TWO fire crews were called out last night to tackle a suspected arson attack involving an abandoned caravan at Burtonwood, Warrington.

At around 10pm firefighters from Penketh and Warrington were called to reports of a fire in Kinnock Park, Burtonwood.

On arrival crews discovered that the fire involved an abandoned caravan, which was well alight. No-one was inside the caravan.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus each used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire, which left the caravan completely destroyed.

Once the fire looked to be out, firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to look for hotspots and monitor temperatures.

They left the scene once they were satisfied that the caravan was safe. No-one was taken to hospital.

Firefighters were in attendance for around 45 minutes. The fire is suspected to have been started deliberately.

Anyone with any information about the blaze should give the details to Cheshire Constabulary via https://www.cheshire.police.uk/ro/report, quoting IML 1147653.
