POLICE are warning residents to be vigilant following a number of burglaries in the Appleton area of Warrington.

There have been three types of burglaries reported in the Appleton area over two evenings. A garage was broken into and two trail bikes were taken while two vehicles were stolen from driveway.
There was also an attempt to break in through patio doors. Burglars appear to be targeting houses to take keys for motor vehicles.

Officers will be increasing high visibility patrols of the area. If anybody has any information relating to these thefts please contact Cheshire Police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.

In order to prevent this from happening residents are advised to consider the following;
* Make sure your car is properly and completely locked.
* Store your keys in a secure location in your home.
*Park your car in your garage if you have one.
*Place a car cover over your car if you want to make it harder to get into.
*Place a steering wheel lock on your wheel to deter thieves.
*Use a GPS tracking device to track the location of your car in case it does get stolen.
*Install CCTV if you don’t have a garage.
