PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have rubber-stamped proposals for a new Costello’s Bar in Time Square – four months after the scheme was originally announced.

The project, in premises between The Botanist restaurant and Cineworld, was announced by the developer back in July.

Replacement  windows and doors, installation of outdoor parasols,  planters and café barriers to form a perimeter for an outdoor seating area and change of use to a public house, wine bar or drinking establishment have been given the go-ahead

Previously, planning consent was in place for the property to be used for a speculative commercial/leisure use.

A report to the committee stated: “The proposal to operate a drinking establishment in this location is consistent with the nature and function of the complex and in a town centre location which is likely to assist in improving its vitality and viability.”

Costello’s is owned by a well-known local family with existing premises in Lymm and Stockton Heath.
