MOTORISTS will not be able to access Chester Road from Lumb Brook Road from this Monday, November 8, due to ongoing road works to replace traffic signals.

From November 8-21 between 07:00am – 07:00pm these works will include the following road junctions:
Chester Road/Ackers Road
Chester Road/Grappenhall Road/Lumb Brook Road
Lumb Brook Road/ Stockton Lane

This scheme will include the replacement of all signal equipment, cabling, ducting and associated footway surfacing.
In addition, Warrington Borough Council is taking the opportunity to enhance the junction to incorporate a pedestrian phase across three of the junctions.

Phase 2 of the above works recommenced on site on September 27, this phase of the works was undertaken maintaining the existing traffic signals and all movements through the junction to complete this aspect of the project.
This included collaborative working with Cadent gas to enable aspects of their renewal scheme to be undertaken using the council’s temporary traffic management arrangements to minimise the overall disruption to the community and
road users.

The next phase of works from 09:30am on Monday, will be carrying out the next phase of the works. This will include reintroducing the ‘One way’ closure on Lumb Brook Road (from Grappenhall Road to Stockton Lane) for a 3–4 week
period.

This temporary traffic management arrangement was used to undertake phase 1 of the scheme. This phase will therefore, utilise temporary traffic signals at the junction of Chester Road/Ackers Road, which will be controlled manually (when required) between the hours of 7.00am and 7.00pm, with operatives being on site during these hours to aid the traffic in the peak times.

In addition, the council will also erect a temporary push button pedestrian crossing facility to aid pedestrians across Grappenhall Road / Chester Road as per the first phase.

Note: The scheme is provisionally scheduled for completion by the end of November 2021, this is as a guide only as certain aspects of the works are weather dependent.
