Fire crews called out to tackle deliberate wheelie bin fires on Bonfire night

FIRE crews were called out to tackle deliberate wheelie bins fires on Bonfire night in Warrington.

The first incident was at 20:09 when firefighters from Birchwood used a water backpack to extinguish a wheelie bin that had been deliberately set alight at a play area on Alder Lane, near Orford Park, Warrington.

Then shortly before 21.30 firefighters from Penketh used a hose reel jet to extinguish a deliberate wheelie bin fire on Wellfield Street, Warrington.

The crew was in attendance for around 15 minutes.

The incidents follow numerous deliberate wheelie bin fires in recent weeks, many around the Orford park area.

Police arrested one youth in the Orford area last night, following a deliberate fire at the skatepark on Orford Park.
