A special Remembrance concert to mark 100 years of the Appleton Thorn War Memorial has been organised by Appleton Parish Council and local residents.
The event will take palce on Friday 12th November 2021 at 7.30pm at St Cross Church in Appleton Thorn and while the Remembrance Concert will be by invite only due to limited numbers, everyone can join the concert virtually on zoom. The login details for the concert are via zoom;

The Remembrance Concert will be a celebration with poems, reflections and stories read by local Parish Councillor, representative from Appleton Thorn school and representative from Appleton Thorn prison. The community choir will sing, music will be provided by a local band and there will be a sing-along section.
Appleton Parish Council has arranged a display of crosses outside St Cross Church in Appleton Thorn. Each cross is for each soldier and each cross is engraved with the soldier’s details. Each individual cross has been hand-made at HMP Thorn Cross.
Local resident and historian Liz McAloon has undertaken extensive research into military personnel around Appleton Thorn village and this research will be displayed.
In addition to this Appleton Parish Council has paid for a new plaque to be erected at the war memorial and this will be unveiled on Remembrance Sunday following the traditional laying of the wreaths.
Project to keep memory of village heroes alive to mark 100th anniversary of war memorial
