Two more COVID-19 related deaths reported at Warrington Hospital for second consecutive day

TWO more COVID-19 related deaths have sadly been reported at Warrington Hospital, for a second consecutive day with 193 new cases confirmed in the town.

The 193 (151) new cases reported by Public Health England, takes the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 33,350 (33,157).



Infection rates in Warrington have fallen slightly over the last seven days for a second consecutive day to 1,323 (1,333) – 631.8 (636.6) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period but remain well above the national average of 454.5 (446.2) per 100,000, which continue to rise.
Two more patients have sadly died at Warrington hospital for a second consecutive day, while inpatient numbers have risen from 36-42 with three patients discharged.
Meanwhile, the UK has recorded another 52,009 new COVID cases and 115 virus-related deaths.
The number of new infections marks the first time that figure has been above 50,000 since 17 July.
A total of 327,537 cases have been recorded in the past week – an increase of 17.9%.
Another 49,080 first doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the latest 24-hour period – meaning a total of 49,554,407 people have had at least one jab.
A total of 45,460,122 people are fully vaccinated, an increase of 26,365 on the previous day.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 511 (511) 244 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 207.4.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 593 (591).

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Thursday, October 21 2021 was 115 (179), taking the total number of deaths to 139,146 (139,031).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 52,009 (49,139), taking the total number to 8,641,221 (8,589,737).
Across the country, there are 8,142 (7,891) patients currently in hospital and 872 (850) on ventilation.
